So, some dumb schmuck on rapebook (or facebook, as it’s less commonly known) got wind, via some incorrect write up, of a story about an ‘artist’ named Guillermo Vargas in Costa Rica, who according to their version of the story, used some kids to capture a dog off the streets, strung it up in his exhibition, and waited for it to die.
This, as even the most cursory of cursory research will inform, is not how it went down. Sure, he tied a dog up, but it was not left to die, and did not die. Is it art? I don’t give a fuck. The issue I’m highlighting in all this is the rabid bandwagon-jumping of the imbecilic ‘normal people’ who inhabit rapebook. Who ever thought it’d be a good idea to get everyday idiots onto the internets? Really, come along now. They don’t know what the fuck, and now they can infect everyone else with their un-knowledge in the blink of an eye. Gnnhh.
Anyway, yes. There’s a group on facebook opposing this, because as we all know, if there’s a facebook group setup to support a cause, that cause instantly wins and ceases to be an issue. Idiots. It’s worth joining the group just to post something antagonising to the wall.
Also Jerky why did your comments about my joining vanish, eh?

Seen over there in my Stuff I Approve Of section, spEak You’re bRanes trawls the BBC’s mostly-retarded Have Your Say pseudo-forum for particularly well bred examples of retardation, and then posts them up for all to see. I am a big fan of this. You don’t even know what day it is compared to how big a fan I am of: this.
How important is it to carry out these types of experiments? Are you concerned about this particular experiment? How do you think this experiment will contribute to the advancement of science?
… which are as easy to answer as: 1. Very, if you like advancement of technology and knowledge, Not at all, if you’re religious; 2. No, because chances are you don’t understand it; 3. see 2. Hence lots of comments about religion and such from imbeciles, which are always hilarious. Quote of the day goes to this fantastic insight…
this experiment is a complete waste of time. we cannot destroy the whole earth, only God can. Grace, London

First off these are all over a year and a half old, so another medal to me for being right on the pulse of internets happenings. Yeah! Now watch this:
Wow, a mobile phone being used to turn a regular ethernet port into a wireless router, that’s pretty amazing. Almost as amazing as being able to open your car from miles away by piggybacking the signal from your keyfob over a mobile phone connection.
Or you could watch this one:
The comments section of which is full of people who’ve tried it.
Thing is, as I’d hope would be obvious to anyone with a functioning brain and even tiny amount of cynicism, these are not true. No, you can’t use a mobile to extend your wifi, access TV via gmail, or piggyback a car’s keyfob over a mobile phone signal either, for that matter.
They are very well done though, produced in a 1980s Channel 4 For Schools sort of way, and the guy doing the tutorials is superb. They’ve gotta be the benchmark for trapping gullible people for your own amusement, a.k.a. trolling. The best parts of course are peoples reactions, and a couple fine examples are this guy buying into a system for speeding up snail mail delivery, and these haughty types being all haughty about the whole thing.

Here I have made a little cart, but we don't need to push it. Spot the reference, win nothing
This is one hell of a great little game, as most physics games I’ve seen have tended to be. The tutorial’s entirely thorough so I won’t bother describing how to go about it, but the objective is to get the small red object into the big red area. It gives a lot of room for creativity and flexibility, and you can even do awesome things like send the URLs for interesting solutions to other people. For the very controversially-named (and massively flukey) one above see here, although sadly I didn’t save my many tank-based ones, as tanks are awesome. No great loss, really.
You’ve got to love The Onion, their stuff is often genius, and they’ve been around for so long it’s quite astonishing that they still manage it. The production on their ‘TV’ things like that linked above is also astounding.
See, irony didn’t really die (I may be late with this).
M: No Ordinary Letter Driving home from the flicks with the top down at 11pm+ is my new favourite hobby.
Tonight I saw: Inception. I would say it was: exceptional. Haha! etc 15 hours ago
